Donald Trump stated that a deal with Iran may be reached next week
The U.S. President Donald Trump stated that he will reach a peace agreement with Iran regarding the extension of the ceasefire and the unblocking of the Strait of Hormuz "within the next week." He said this in a comment to ABC News.
Responding to a question about when the U.S. and Iran will agree on a memorandum of understanding regarding the unblocking of the strait and the extension of the ceasefire, Trump said: "I think it will happen within the next week."
He emphasized that he has not yet agreed to the deal because he "needs to resolve a few more issues."
"This is not a simple matter. It concerns a truly large country – them – a very large country that has to make a deal. There is actually huge hostility there. So it is not easy for them. In fact, from our point of view, it is not easy either. But we are getting what we need," added the American president.
Trump also believes that a peace agreement with Iran may prove better than a U.S. military victory in this war.
