Court fined a State Emergency Service employee 34 thousand UAH for refusing to serve at the beginning of the war
The Central District Court of Mykolaiv sentenced a former employee of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who was accused of evading civil protection service during a special period.
According to the court, at the time of the offense, the 33-year-old resident of Mykolaiv worked as a dispatcher in one of the units of the Main Department of the State Emergency Service in Mykolaiv region and held the special rank of junior sergeant of the civil protection service.
The court established that in March 2022, the woman was supposed to start a 24-hour shift but did not show up for duty. She also did not submit a report explaining her absence.
According to the court, the accused informed the management by phone about her unwillingness to serve, after which she left Ukraine.
The woman was charged with committing a criminal offense under Article 336-1 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — evasion of civil protection service during a special period.
During the trial, an agreement on guilt recognition was reached between the accused, her defender, and the prosecutor. According to its terms, the woman fully admitted her guilt and agreed with the circumstances of the criminal offense.
The court concluded that the agreement complies with legal requirements and was entered into voluntarily, after which it approved it.
As a result of the case review, the court found the former State Emergency Service employee guilty and imposed the agreed punishment in the form of a fine of 34 thousand hryvnias.
