Today, Ukraine is celebrating the Day of the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems for the first time. On the eve of the holiday, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, signed a decree establishing the new military holiday.

According to decree No. 485/2026 dated June 10, the Day of the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems will be celebrated annually on June 11.

The Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, congratulated the servicemen on their professional holiday and emphasized the importance of this branch of forces.

"Dear warriors of the Armed Forces' Unmanned Systems!

Today we celebrate your professional holiday for the first time. The Unmanned Systems Forces are the youngest, yet already one of the most effective separate branches of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Military historians say: in World War I armies entered on horseback and emerged with tanks. In the war of Russia against Ukraine, armies entered with doctrines of the last century, but it is Ukraine that has forced the world to look anew at the role of unmanned systems in modern warfare.

In 2024, we were the first in the world to create a separate branch of forces – the Unmanned Systems Forces. This was a strategic, farsighted, and irreplaceable decision. After all, modern war is primarily a war of technology, intellect, innovation, and speed of decision-making.

From the first days of the large-scale invasion, unmanned system operators have demonstrated exceptional effectiveness in detecting the enemy, conducting reconnaissance, adjusting fire, striking important targets, and supporting combat operations in all directions.

Drones have long ceased to be an experiment or auxiliary means. They have become one of the main tools of modern warfare and one of the key factors in saving the lives of Ukrainian warriors.

It is the unmanned system operators who have been among those who brought the war onto the territory of the aggressor state. Russian military-industrial complex facilities hundreds and thousands of kilometers from the front line feel the consequences of their work daily. The terms Middle Strike and Deep Strike have become symbols of inevitable punishment for the occupiers.

Today, the Unmanned Systems Forces are not only about the sky. They also operate on land and at sea. It is a unique combination of combat experience, engineering thought, analytics, and innovation. Operators, engineers, designers, programmers, analysts – all of you embody a new era of warfare.

Unmanned systems are constantly improving, opening new possibilities, and creating new ways to fight the enemy. They not only destroy Russian occupiers but also save the lives of Ukrainian defenders. Evacuation of the wounded from the battlefield, delivery of ammunition, provisions, and technical equipment to the front line, performing hundreds of logistical missions daily – all this has already become an integral part of the work of unmanned systems.

We bow our heads in memory of the warriors of the Unmanned Systems Forces who gave their lives for the freedom, independence, and future of Ukraine. Their feat will forever remain in the history of our state.

Thank you to every warrior of the Unmanned Systems Forces for your professionalism, ingenuity, perseverance, and effectiveness.

The future is being created right now. And to a large extent – by your hands.

Glory to Ukraine!"
