In Cherkasy region, a police officer was notified of suspicion for beating a man during mobilization group work
Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the National Police, notified a police officer from Cherkasy region of suspicion, who is suspected of unjustified use of violence against a citizen during notification measures. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.
According to the investigation, the officer was part of a notification group of one of the territorial recruitment and social support centers. During communication with the man, he used physical force and handcuffs against him.
After the citizen was effectively detained and did not resist or pose a threat to others, the officer, according to the investigation, continued to use violence and struck the man several times.
The police officer was notified of suspicion of exceeding official powers accompanied by violence, use of special means, and actions that insult the personal dignity of the victim (Part 2, Article 365 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The article's sanction provides for imprisonment for a term of 3 to 8 years.
Currently, the issue of choosing a preventive measure for the suspect is being decided. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
