Officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will remain one of the key personnel resources of the army, so the mechanism of their discharge will differ from the approach to other categories of servicemen. This was reported by Deputy Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mstyslav Banik during a conversation with journalists.

According to him, the officer corps plays a critically important role in the functioning of the military, so the state cannot afford to quickly lose trained commanders and specialists.

Banik also noted that after the introduction of new approaches to service, officers will likely continue to serve on a contract basis. As an example, he cited his own intention to sign a contract for 24 months, after which he will have the right to the guarantees provided by law.

The Ministry of Defense emphasizes that the service of an officer involves a significantly broader scope of responsibility and a different nature of task execution compared to enlisted and sergeant personnel. Therefore, the issue of their discharge or demobilization will be considered with separate approaches, taking into account the needs of defense and personnel support of the military.

"Officer service is already a different level of responsibility, a different level of task execution. Officers do not sit on the front line together with the infantry; obviously, they have more responsibility, but the service process itself is somewhat different for them," Banik explained.

Recall that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov announced details of the new military service contract system, which will provide a guaranteed deferment after the contract ends. Its duration will depend on the type of contract, previous length of service, and the serviceman's participation in combat operations.

The Ministry of Defense also revealed details of the new monetary provision system for servicemen and the introduction of three types of contracts.
