Taxpayers face fines for failing to preserve primary documents, as well as for not providing information in response to requests from tax authorities.

Tax legislation requires the preservation of primary documents, accounting and statistical reports, accounting registers, and other documents related to the calculation and payment of taxes and fees for the periods specified in Article 44 of the Tax Code.

If a taxpayer fails to ensure the preservation of such documents or does not provide the tax authority with originals or copies of documents during tax control in cases stipulated by the Tax Code, a fine of 1020 UAH may be imposed.

For a repeated similar violation within a year, if a fine has already been applied to the taxpayer for such actions, the penalty amount will be 2040 UAH.

Additionally, the Tax Code provides liability for failing to respond to a request from a controlling authority, as well as for failure to submit or incomplete submission of documents or other information.

If such documents or information are not provided in response to a request from the tax authority made on the grounds specified in subparagraphs 6–8 of subparagraph 73.3.1 of paragraph 73.3 of Article 73 of the Tax Code, the fine amounts to five minimum wages established as of January 1 of the relevant tax year for each violation.

In other cases provided for by Article 73 of the Tax Code, a fine of one minimum wage is imposed for each fact of failure to submit or incomplete submission of documents and information upon request of the controlling authority.

Payment of the fine does not exempt the person from the obligation to provide the documents or information requested by the controlling authority.
