In Dnipropetrovsk region, a young man was tortured with a stun gun and a metal jump rope for $10,000 and an apartment
In Dnipropetrovsk region, three local residents were detained on suspicion of extorting money from a 20-year-old man using violence and threats. All three have been notified of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 189 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
According to the prosecutor's office, the events began back in October 2025. The investigation believes that the suspects met their 20-year-old acquaintance, threatened him with a weapon, forcibly put him into a car, and took him to a garage. There, the victim was allegedly subjected to a stun gun.
According to law enforcement, the men demanded $10,000 from the victim, claiming he owed them money for stolen property. At the same time, the investigation established that the young man had no debt obligations to the suspects.
During illegal detention, one of the suspects, according to the investigation, inflicted numerous punches on the victim, then undressed him and struck him at least 45 times with a metal jump rope. The beating stopped only when the young man began to lose consciousness.
After that, the victim was doused with cold water, the car keys were taken away, and he was released with threats of murder if he contacted law enforcement.
As noted by the prosecutor's office, in February and May 2026, the suspects continued to pressure the man, used physical violence, and demanded that he sell the apartment to repay the fabricated debt.
Fearing for his life and health, the victim handed over part of the money and later contacted law enforcement.
During searches, mobile phones, items allegedly used to beat the victim, and substances resembling narcotics were seized from the suspects.
Currently, the court has chosen preventive measures for the suspects in the form of detention with the alternative of bail.
