The Ministry of Defense of Ukraine continues to strengthen the Defense Forces with modern weapons and military equipment. Since the beginning of 2026, the defense department has codified and approved for use 1,000 samples of weapons and military equipment. This was reported by the Ministry of Defense.

For comparison, during the same period last year, 659 samples of weapons and military equipment were codified, indicating an increase of more than 50%.

The department notes that one of the key directions of Ukraine's defense strategy is to achieve a technological advantage over the enemy, so among the new samples, modern solutions designed for high-intensity warfare conditions prevail.

Which weapon samples were codified

Since the beginning of 2026, the Ministry of Defense has codified, in particular:

  • over 300 new unmanned aerial complexes (UAVs);
  • 188 types of ammunition;
  • 128 communication devices;
  • over 60 samples of electronic warfare and electronic reconnaissance equipment;
  • 50 new ground robotic complexes;
  • almost 50 samples of armored vehicles and special armored cars, among others.

All these samples have undergone testing under difficult conditions and confirmed their declared characteristics. A significant portion is already being used by units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The share of Ukrainian production is growing

Of the 1,000 codified samples of weapons and military equipment, 892 units are of Ukrainian production. This is almost 90% of the total number, indicating the strengthening capabilities of the domestic defense-industrial complex.

For comparison, the share of Ukrainian samples among codified ones was 69.6% last year and 74.6% the year before last.

The Ministry of Defense notes that Ukrainian manufacturers are increasingly focusing on creating high-tech solutions that meet the requirements of modern warfare.

Codification not only of combat systems

In addition to lethal weapons, since the beginning of 2026, the following have also been codified:

  • 68 vehicles of various purposes;
  • 34 samples of logistical support equipment;
  • 16 engineering tools;
  • 9 means of technical maintenance of weapons and military equipment.

The arsenal of the Defense Forces has also been supplemented with new samples of small arms, surface platforms, optical devices, radiation, chemical and biological protection equipment, mock-ups, software, and other solutions.

Support for the defense industry

In May 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine additionally allocated UAH 10.84 billion to strengthen the country's defense capability.

Of this amount, UAH 9.05 billion is intended for the purchase of new weapons, modernization, and repair of military equipment.

Another UAH 1.79 billion is planned to be invested in the Ukrainian defense-industrial complex—for the implementation of new technologies, expansion of production capacities, and development of the industry.
