An investigation is ongoing in Khmelnytskyi region into the air crash of a Su-24M military aircraft that occurred on June 16 in Shepetivka district. Two crew members died as a result of the tragedy.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, a pre-trial investigation has been launched into the air crash.

The information has been entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations under Part 2 of Article 416 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — violation of flight rules or preparation for them, which caused serious consequences.

Preliminary investigation data indicate that at about 7:05 PM, during a training flight, the Su-24M military aircraft crashed. Two pilots aged 55 and 23 died.

Currently, law enforcement officers are conducting initial investigative actions and establishing all circumstances of the tragedy. In particular, the technical condition of the aircraft, compliance with flight preparation and execution requirements, as well as other factors that could have led to the crash, are being checked.

Within the criminal proceedings, official investigations have been appointed in the military unit and in the Air Force Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. A special commission has also been created at the Ministry of Defense to determine the causes of the air crash.

The Office of the Prosecutor General noted that measures are currently being taken to decode the aircraft's flight recorder. The site inspection is ongoing.
