A petition No. 14315 has been registered on the Kyiv City State Administration website regarding the advisability of keeping animals in the Kyiv Zoo amid regular missile and drone attacks on the city.

In the appeal, the petition authors urge the city authorities and responsible bodies to conduct an independent assessment of the safety of keeping animals in the zoo under conditions of military actions and shelling of the capital.

The petition text states that Kyiv has long been a target of missile and drone attacks. According to the initiators of the appeal, explosions, shock waves, fires, and prolonged air raid alerts cause significant stress to animals, especially large mammals, birds, and other species sensitive to noise and sudden environmental changes.

The petition authors consider it necessary to temporarily relocate certain animal species to foreign conservation institutions. At the same time, they emphasize that this does not mean stopping the zoo's operation, but ensuring the maximum safety of the animals.

The appeal also contains a request to consider this issue and take measures to protect animals that cannot avoid danger on their own during military actions.
