In Khmelnytskyi region, a drunk man opened fire with an automatic rifle near the TRC
In the town of Letychiv, Khmelnytskyi region, police detained a 31-year-old man who fired shots from an automatic weapon near the Territorial Center for Recruitment and Social Support. This was reported by the police and the regional prosecutor's office.
According to the investigation, the incident occurred on the evening of June 17 near the Khmelnytskyi District TRC in Letychiv.
It was preliminarily established that the 31-year-old man, while intoxicated, came to the institution with an automatic weapon, which he had previously declared in accordance with the law.
During a conflict with servicemen, he fired several shots toward the fence of the administrative building, after which he left the scene. Fortunately, no one was injured as a result of the incident.
Law enforcement officers quickly located the man and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
During the arrest, an automatic rifle, two magazines, and 55 rounds of ammunition were seized from him.
Under the procedural guidance of the Letychiv District Prosecutor's Office, a criminal case is being investigated on the fact of hooliganism committed with the use of firearms (Part 4, Article 296 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
Currently, the issue of notifying the detainee of suspicion and applying to the court for a preventive measure in the form of detention is being resolved.
