The Ministry of Justice warned about fake scam mailings on behalf of the ministry
The Ministry of Justice warned Ukrainians about a new phishing scheme. Citizens receive messages about alleged traffic violations and the urgent need to pay a fine.
"Scammers use the name of the Ministry of Justice, threaten with additional sanctions, and direct people to a website that imitates the official portal of the National Police of Ukraine.
In recorded cases, messages come from a foreign number, and the link leads to a site in the .top domain zone. Official resources of Ukrainian government agencies are hosted in the gov.ua domain zone.
The fraudulent site asks to enter personal data and may later request bank card details, confirmation codes, or payment execution," the statement said.
The Ministry of Justice also listed signs of fraud:
- unknown or foreign sender number;
- suspicious link;
- demand to act urgently;
- threats of blocking, fines, or other consequences;
- request to enter personal or banking data;
- lack of complete information about the violation.
"A logo, state emblem, and similar design do not guarantee that the site is genuine. Always check the page address in the browser.
What to do?
- Do not follow the link, do not reply to the message, and do not enter any data.
- Check information about fines only through official services: the Diia app or portal, Driver's Cabinet, and Ministry of Internal Affairs services.
- Save screenshots, block the number, and report the fraud to the Cyber Police," the Ministry of Justice added.
