The Kropyvnytskyi City Council adopted a decision to introduce a moratorium on the public use of Russian-language cultural products. The deputies supported the relevant decision on June 18. This was reported by the Office of the Commissioner for the Protection of the State Language.

The moratorium provides for a ban on the playback of Russian-language musical works, clips, advertising, and entertainment audio and video materials in public places. The restrictions apply to shopping and entertainment centers, retail establishments, cafes, restaurants, and public transport.

The decision also prohibits holding concerts, theatrical, club, and other entertainment events using the Russian language. The ban also covers the promotion of Russian-language cultural products during mass events, as well as in communal and public institutions, including in the fields of education, sports, and leisure.

The city council noted that the purpose of introducing the moratorium is to protect the Ukrainian information space. The decision emphasizes that the aggressor state uses the Russian language as a tool to influence public consciousness and identity.

At the same time, the moratorium does not apply to private communication between citizens and the conduct of religious rites.
