The Cabinet of Ministers has approved the procedure for providing urgent reparations to people who suffered from sexual violence related to Russian aggression, announced Ukraine's Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko.

A one-time payment of 3000 euros is envisaged. Children born as a result of this crime will also be eligible to receive it.

Funding will be provided through contributions from international partners and donors. The payment will not affect a person's right to receive subsidies or other types of state assistance.

A special commission will be created under the Ministry of Social Policy, Family and Unity to review applications. The government notes that the procedure must ensure confidentiality, respect for the dignity of victims, and minimize retraumatization.

According to the Office of the Prosecutor General, since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, 398 cases of war-related sexual violence have been recorded in Ukraine. Of these, 248 concern women and 150 men. At the same time, human rights defenders indicate that the actual number of cases may be higher due to underreporting or concealed information about such crimes.

Sexual violence, according to the Ukrainian side, is used as a tool of war and constitutes a war crime. The government emphasizes the need for international accountability for these actions and ensuring proper compensation for victims.
