Fuel sales went up: the market earned over UAH 221 billion in five months
Fuel sales in Ukraine increased by 11.5% in the first five months of 2026, with the market revenue exceeding UAH 221 billion. At the same time, the number of fiscalized sales points grew by almost a third, indicating further formalization of the industry. This was reported by the parliamentary Committee on Finance, Tax and Customs Policy.
It is noted that from January to May 2026, Ukraine sold 3.319 billion liters of fuel, which is 341 million liters or 11.45% more compared to the same period last year.
The total revenue from fuel sales during this period reached UAH 221.1 billion, which is UAH 70.5 billion or 46.8% higher than the figure for the first five months of 2025.
The committee noted that about UAH 17.3 billion of the total revenue increase was due to the growth in fuel sales volume. This accounts for almost a quarter of the total market revenue growth.
Additionally, the number of fiscalized sales points continues to grow. The average number of cash registers (RRO) operating in the fuel trade sector from January to May 2026 was 21,052 units. This is 5,043 RROs or 31.5% more than in the same period last year.
Such dynamics are considered to indicate the expansion of the network of legal sales points and the effectiveness of measures to formalize the market.
At the same time, the committee emphasized that the problem of illegal gas stations remains relevant. Despite the efforts of law enforcement agencies, including the Economic Security Bureau and the National Police, the fight against the shadow segment of the fuel market must be brought to completion.
