In Kyiv, the monument to Mikhail Bulgakov was dismantled, video
On Andriyivskyy Descent in Kyiv, the monument to the writer Mikhail Bulgakov was dismantled. The monument was installed near the Mikhail Bulgakov Literary Memorial Museum.
Mikhail Bulgakov was born in Kyiv and spent a significant part of his life in the city. The house where he lived now functions as the writer's literary memorial museum.
The issue of honoring Bulgakov's memory in Ukraine has repeatedly been the subject of public discussions. In particular, the expert commission of the Ukrainian Institute of National Memory previously noted that the writer's works contain assessments and views which, according to specialists, reflect an imperial perspective and a critical attitude towards Ukrainian statehood, language, and national identity.
Earlier, the Kyiv City Council supported the removal of the monument to Mikhail Bulgakov from the public space on Andriyivskyy Descent.
The video of the monument's dismantling was published by the "Suspilne" journalist Kateryna Nekrecha.
