PSG wins the Champions League for the second consecutive time: Arsenal lost in a penalty shootout
French PSG became the Champions League winner of the 2025/26 season by defeating London’s "Arsenal" in the final. The decisive match of the tournament took place in Budapest and ended with the victory of Luis Enrique's team after a penalty shootout.
Since no winner was determined during regular time, the teams played two additional extra time periods. However, the score remained unchanged in extra time — 1:1.
In the post-match penalty shootout, PSG players were active, winning 4:3 and claiming the main European club trophy for the second consecutive time.
Ukrainian defender Ilya Zabarnyi started the final on the bench but came on during extra time and played the entire second extra time period. For the 23-year-old footballer, this match was his seventh in the current Champions League campaign and his first in the playoff stage.
Thanks to this victory, PSG became the holder of the European Champions Cup for the second time in their history and successfully defended the title won a year earlier.
Recall that in Paris during the Champions League final between PSG and London’s "Arsenal," clashes occurred between fans and the police.
