Parliamentary Elections in Armenia: Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's Party Gains Majority of Votes
The party of the Prime Minister of Armenia, Nikol Pashinyan, "Civil Contract," is winning the parliamentary elections, gaining over 50% of the voters' votes. Pashinyan himself has already announced the victory of his political force.
According to preliminary results after processing 95.9% of protocols, "Civil Contract" receives about 50% of the votes. After counting ballots from 1924 out of 2005 polling stations, Pashinyan's party gained 50.07% support and can expect 64 parliamentary seats out of 105.
The second place was taken by the "Strong Armenia" party, which received 23.35% of the votes and 29 mandates. The third was the "Armenia" bloc, which received 9.86% of the voters' votes and 12 seats in parliament.
Voter turnout was 58.97%. Nearly 1.4 million citizens out of over 2.5 million registered voters participated in the voting.
