The court in Oslo found the son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit, 29-year-old Marius Borg Høiby, guilty of 34 crimes and sentenced him to four years in prison, NBC News reports.

The charges include two episodes of rape, domestic violence, infliction of serious bodily harm, violence in close relationships, physical assaults, threats, six episodes of sexually offensive behavior, three cases of violating restraining orders, and other crimes.

He was acquitted of two additional rape episodes. At the same time, he has the right to appeal.

The prosecution demanded 7 years and 7 months of imprisonment for him.

Høiby denied the most serious charges but admitted to some less serious episodes.

The seven-week trial caused significant public resonance in Norway. During the hearings, testimonies about drug use, intimate videos recorded by him, and hundreds of electronic messages were examined. According to the case, one of the rape episodes took place in the basement of the Crown Prince's house.

The verdict was also issued against the backdrop of the worsening health of Mette-Marit, who has pulmonary fibrosis and is on the lung transplant list. Doctors note that without surgery, this is likely her last year of life.
