Bill No.15258 has been submitted to the Verkhovna Rada, which provides for strengthening control over granting combatant participant statuses and other statuses that entitle holders to state benefits and payments. The document also proposes to introduce administrative liability for violations in this sphere.

The Verkhovna Rada stated that currently there is no clear and transparent system for granting veteran statuses in Ukraine, which leads to cases of abuse.

According to the Ministry of Veterans Affairs, over a thousand such statuses were issued last year. This allowed recipients to receive various social payments, the amount of which could range from 120 thousand to several million hryvnias.
