President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed law No. 4812-IX, which amends the Law of Ukraine "On Electronic Communications" and legally designates the subdivisions and organizations of the Ministry of Defense's intelligence agency as special users of the radio frequency spectrum.

Previously, the parliament adopted the law to eliminate gaps in legislation regarding the powers of the Ministry of Defense's intelligence agency and to establish legal grounds for protecting information during the use of the radio frequency spectrum.

Including the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense in the list of special users of the radio frequency resource is expected to simplify coordination and management of technical resources. This is especially important in wartime conditions, as the regulator for special users of the radio frequency resource is the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

The law is expected to allow the intelligence agency to operate within a unified legal framework together with other law enforcement agencies and the Armed Forces of Ukraine, as well as improve the organization of information protection and ensure uninterrupted communication during combat missions.

The explanations to the law emphasize that the Ministry of Defense's intelligence agency plays an important role in protecting the state, and for effective work, intelligence officers need modern equipment and access to the radio frequency spectrum.

The implementation of the law is intended to provide the intelligence agency with all necessary tools for effective resistance against the aggressor and strengthening national security.
