On June 9, the Verkhovna Rada adopted the law on railway transport safety. Bill No. 14174 was supported by 254 members of parliament.

The document introduces the European risk assessment system and new approaches to technical regulation. In particular, in the preparation, examination, and issuance of certificates to train drivers, as well as licenses to carriers.

The adoption of the law will allow fulfilling obligations under the Association Agreement with the EU and the Ukraine Facility Plan.

As noted by the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper," despite existing remarks, the relevant parliamentary committee supported the recommendation to adopt the bill in the second reading by 12 votes. After the document's adoption, the industry expects a three-year transition period, during which the railway transport market should gradually transform and adapt to European operational standards.

What the document proposes was written by the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper" here.
