From January to May 2026, the High Council of Justice reviewed 80 reports from judges about possible interference in their professional activities or actions that may violate guarantees of judicial independence and undermine the authority of justice. This was reported by the HCJ.

Of these, 74 reports were received directly during the reporting period, the rest were received earlier but reviewed within this year.

As a result of reviewing 33 reports about interference in judges' activities regarding the administration of justice, 26 decisions were made to take response measures:

  • appeals to the prosecutor's office and law enforcement agencies regarding the provision of information about the disclosure and investigation of crimes;
  • submissions to relevant bodies or officials for the identification and bringing to established responsibility of persons who committed actions or omissions, etc.

After reviewing 42 judges' reports, the Council made 16 decisions approving 36 conclusions of HCJ members about the absence of grounds for taking measures to ensure judicial independence and the authority of justice.

Additionally, HCJ members decided to leave 5 reports without consideration.

It is also noted that the High Council of Justice made 8 decisions on its own initiative within its powers to take measures to ensure judicial independence and the authority of justice.

As is known, Article 376 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine provides criminal liability for interference in any form in the activities of a judge with the aim of obstructing the performance of official duties or obtaining an unjust court decision.

We also reported that the High Council of Justice made a decision to dismiss six judges. The decision was made in connection with the judges' submission of resignation statements.
