Canceled receipts and took the money for herself: 'Fora' cashier convicted of embezzlement
The Boryspil City District Court of Kyiv region reviewed case No. 359/767/26 regarding a cashier at the 'Fora' store, who was accused of embezzling nearly 60 thousand hryvnias of employer's funds. According to the investigation, the woman appropriated money from sold goods by canceling cash receipts after transactions with customers. This was reported by the court.
The court established that during the period from 28.07.2025 to 19.12.2025, the accused, working as a cashier in the sales area of the LLC 'Fora' store located in Boryspil, Kyiv region, and being materially responsible, intentionally, during martial law, with selfish motives and for personal enrichment, canceled receipts and appropriated money for purchased goods that were under her control and used them at her discretion.
As a result of these actions, the company suffered property damage totaling 59,892 hryvnias and 70 kopecks.
Thus, the woman, by her intentional illegal actions, committed embezzlement of another's property that was under her control during martial law, which constitutes a criminal offense under part 4 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
At the court hearing, the accused fully admitted her guilt, sincerely repented, asked for forgiveness, and requested a lenient sentence. She additionally explained to the court that she is raising two children, voluntarily transferred 1,000 hryvnias in January to support the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and fully compensated the damages to the victim.
The court found citizen K. guilty of committing a criminal offense under part 4 of article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and sentenced her to 5 years imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions related to accounting, storage, and disposal of money and material assets for one year.
Based on article 75 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the accused was released from serving the main sentence with probation for 1 year and 6 months.
According to part 1 of article 76 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the woman was assigned the following duties: to periodically report to the authorized probation authority and to notify the probation authority about any change of residence.
