Ukraine May Review Payment Restrictions for Families of Missing Military Personnel
In Ukraine, a petition demanding a review of the provisions of law No. 13646 regarding the limitation of payments to families of servicemen who went missing has gathered the required 25,000 signatures and must now be considered by the Cabinet of Ministers.
The authors of the appeal oppose the establishment of a single maximum amount of monetary support for such families and emphasize that social guarantees for the families of defenders should not be reduced or depend on the duration of the uncertain status of the serviceman.
The petition №41/009257-26ep also contains a call to preserve current benefits and payments, provide official clarifications regarding the application of the new provisions to cases of disappearance before the law came into force, and hold open consultations involving families of military personnel.
As a reminder, "Judicial and Legal Newspaper" wrote that the Verkhovna Rada supported bill No. 13646 aimed at strengthening the social protection of servicemen and their family members.
The document provides a number of guarantees for citizens serving in the military. The adopted changes ensure the preservation of the workplace and position for employees who were called up or sent to military service. Labor guarantees will apply for the entire period of service.
Additionally, payment of monetary compensation for unused days of annual and additional leave is provided.
