Demanded $5000 from a woman, threatening to spread intimate photos, and beat a police officer: the offender will be tried
In Lviv Region, law enforcement officers sent an indictment to court against a 39-year-old resident of the Lviv district who was engaged in extorting money from a woman with whom he previously had a close relationship. This was reported by the Lviv Regional Prosecutor's Office.
According to law enforcement, in January - February of this year, the man, having intimate photos of the 31-year-old victim, threatened to spread them on the Internet. To do this, he created a page on the social network TikTok, which allegedly belonged to the woman, adding her photos and personal information. Subsequently, he insisted that he would post the intimate photos there.
The woman was worried that such actions could lead to her discreditation as a person in the eyes of relatives and colleagues, as well as create an atmosphere of public condemnation.
For maintaining confidentiality, the man demanded payment. He initially valued his silence at 15,000 US dollars, but when he realized the woman did not have that amount, he “agreed” to 5,000 US dollars.
To prevent the woman from refusing to pay, he systematically pressured and threatened physical violence against her and her relatives.
Realizing that the illegal activity of her former partner would not stop even if she agreed to his terms, the woman turned to law enforcement and continued to act under their control.
Thus, in mid-February, she met with the man to hand over the money. During the meeting, he not only verbally threatened her but also tried to intimidate the victim by showing a traumatic pistol.
After receiving the agreed amount of money, the man tried to leave the meeting place by car, but was detained by law enforcement officers.
During the arrest, he actively resisted the officers. He sprayed a police officer in the eyes with a "Teren-4" gas spray, and when the officer was disoriented, he hit him several times in the head.
At the request of the prosecution, the man is held in custody.
