Vitaliy Klychko stated that Kyiv is creating a duplicate heating and energy supply system
The Mayor of Kyiv, Vitaliy Klychko, stated that the capital is creating a duplicate heating and energy supply system, but this requires many resources and financial assistance from the state. He said this in an interview with the "Kyiv" TV channel.
The mayor emphasized that the city operates one of the largest centralized heating systems in Europe, which was built over decades.
"Now we have four months not only to restore the damaged system but also to create a backup in case of destruction of the centralized heating supply," he noted.
Klychko added that building a fully functional powerful cogeneration system within a few months is an extremely difficult task, but the city is already implementing measures to strengthen energy resilience.
"This requires significant resources, including human resources. We are experiencing a severe shortage of personnel but continue to work intensively, so far without state support," the mayor said.
According to him, Kyiv needs state assistance because the cost of creating an alternative heat and energy supply system is estimated at 30–60 billion UAH.
