In Ukraine, it is proposed to grant the right to travel abroad to veterans who received injuries, wounds, or illnesses while defending the state after 2022 and were discharged from military service due to health reasons. The relevant petition was registered on the government website.

The petition proposes amendments to the legislation regarding the right to travel abroad for veterans who, after 2022, received injuries, wounds, or illnesses during service and were discharged for health reasons.

The appeal emphasizes that it concerns people who did not evade military service and did not seek ways to avoid fulfilling their duty. Instead, they stood up to defend Ukraine during the most difficult period for the country, and the consequences of the injuries, wounds, or illnesses they received often accompany them even after the end of service.

The authors of the petition note that today many such veterans find themselves in a kind of legal trap. Although they no longer serve in the military, due to prolonged paperwork, complicated bureaucratic procedures, or the absence of an established disability group, they cannot fully exercise their right to freedom of movement.

The author of the appeal draws attention to the fact that some veterans, after being discharged from service due to health reasons, cannot use the right to travel abroad because of prolonged paperwork or the lack of an established disability group.

The petition also states that the Constitution of Ukraine guarantees citizens the right to freely leave the territory of the state. The author of the appeal believes that veterans discharged from service for health reasons should be able to fully exercise their rights and freedoms.

It is noted that granting the right to travel abroad will allow such veterans to undergo treatment and rehabilitation, restore their health, visit relatives, work, study, and build their future after what they experienced during the war.

Petition No. 41/010022-26ep calls to allow veterans discharged from service for health reasons to travel abroad regardless of the presence of a disability group.
