The Head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, Pavlo Kyrylenko, did not appear at the hearing in the High Anti-Corruption Court, citing participation in a meeting of the Temporary Investigative Commission of the Verkhovna Rada. This was reported by Transparency International Ukraine.

The defense requested to postpone the case consideration, but the High Anti-Corruption Court deemed the official's absence unjustified and imposed a fine of 6,656 hryvnias on him.

The court established that Pavlo Kyrylenko received the invitation to the Temporary Investigative Commission meeting on June 8. However, according to the court, he did not inform about this while being at the court on the same day.

The judge noted that participation in the TIC meeting was an invitation, not a mandatory summons. Moreover, the legislation on the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine provides for the possibility of delegating representation in the Verkhovna Rada to the deputies of the AMCU head.

The High Anti-Corruption Court emphasized that participation in the court hearing as an accused has a higher priority than attending the Temporary Investigative Commission meeting of the parliament.

It is also noted that the invitation to Pavlo Kyrylenko for the TIC meeting was signed by Member of Parliament Serhiy Kuzminykh, who himself is an accused in a case under consideration by the High Anti-Corruption Court.

The prosecutor did not object to postponing the court hearing but requested to recognize the reasons for absence as unjustified and to apply a fine to the official.

Recall that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office accuses the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine and former head of the Donetsk Regional Military Administration, Pavlo Kyrylenko, of illegal enrichment amounting to over 72 million hryvnias.

This concerns property valued at over 72 million hryvnias:

  • 7 apartments in Kyiv and Uzhhorod with a total area of 688.5 sq. m;
  • a house near Kyiv with an area of over 220 sq. m;
  • 2 garage boxes;
  • 6 parking spaces;
  • 3 non-residential premises with a total area of over 190 sq. m;
  • a BMW X3 car;
  • 2 land plots.

Earlier, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office completed the investigation into the case of non-declaration of property by the AMCU head Kyrylenko.

At the same time, the High Anti-Corruption Court refused to suspend Pavlo Kyrylenko from the position of head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine. The panel of judges of the High Anti-Corruption Court did not satisfy the motion of the SAP prosecutor to suspend the head of the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine, accused of illegal enrichment of over 72 million hryvnias and declaring false information.
