Military serviceman Serhiy Kuznetsov, who was undergoing treatment after being wounded, died in Kyiv: investigation ongoing
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers are investigating the circumstances of the death of serviceman Serhiy Kuznetsov of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Mariupol Brigade, who was undergoing treatment at the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Medical Hospital after sustaining severe injuries on the front line. At the same time, the Kyiv City State Administration's Department of Health reported violations found in the medical institution's operation.
According to Kyiv police, on June 9, a report was received about the death of a 42-year-old Kyiv resident in one of the capital's hospitals. An investigative-operational group from the Desnianskyi Police Department was dispatched to the scene.
A criminal case has been opened under Part 1 of Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine regarding the man's death. Preliminary data indicate that the serviceman had been receiving treatment at the medical facility since April after sustaining severe gunshot wounds during combat operations.
As part of the investigation, a series of expert examinations have been appointed to determine the cause of death and assess the quality of medical care provided. Additionally, under the procedural guidance of the district prosecutor's office, an investigation is underway under Part 1 of Article 140 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine concerning possible improper performance of professional duties by medical staff.
Meanwhile, the Kyiv City State Administration's Department of Health reported that a commission is completing a comprehensive inspection of the activities of the Kyiv City Clinical Emergency Medical Hospital. The inspection is being conducted in accordance with legal requirements and established procedures.
According to the department, several violations were discovered during the inspection. The procedure of obtaining and analyzing official explanations from the medical facility's director, Viktor Dorosh, is currently ongoing. Upon completion of the inspection, appropriate managerial and personnel decisions are promised.
The Kyiv City State Administration also reported that a forensic medical examination is being conducted regarding the death of the wounded serviceman of the 56th Separate Motorized Infantry Mariupol Brigade, Serhiy Kuznetsov. The experts' conclusions are expected to establish the direct causes of his death.
Furthermore, the Department of Health announced an inspection of all municipal healthcare institutions in the capital concerning the quality, completeness, and timeliness of medical care provided to servicemen and veterans.
The department emphasized that ensuring an adequate level of medical care for the defenders of Ukraine is an unconditional priority for the city's healthcare system.
