The Ministry of Defense explained what payments are provided for servicemen in case of injury and treatment within the framework of the salary and deferment reform.

As noted by the department, during inpatient treatment, combat payments of 100,000 UAH per month are retained for military personnel. Such payments can be accrued throughout the entire period of continuous treatment, but no longer than 12 months.

The Ministry of Defense also specified that after receiving an injury, a serviceman has the right, at his own discretion, to remain in his combat unit.

"This is currently provided for by regulatory legal acts. It is also stated in the experimental resolution," the department indicated.

How it was

During treatment after an injury sustained in battle, the serviceman retains the basic monetary allowance according to the last position and is assigned a monthly additional reward of 100,000 hryvnias. These funds are accrued for the entire period of inpatient treatment – both in Ukraine and abroad, including periods of transfer between medical institutions. These payments are also retained during leave for treatment, but only if the military medical commission (MMC) recognizes the injury as severe in its conclusion. If the injury is not severe, the accrual of the additional reward (100,000 hryvnias) stops after discharge from the hospital.

Why this is important to pay attention to

Recall that the Minister of Defense of Ukraine, Mykhailo Fedorov, announced details of the new military service contract system, which will provide a guaranteed deferment after the contract ends. Its duration will depend on the type of contract, previous length of service, and the serviceman's participation in combat operations.

The Ministry of Defense also revealed details of the new monetary allowance system for servicemen and the introduction of three types of contracts.

Thus, the average level of monetary allowance for infantrymen under the new model will be about 300,000 UAH per month, with maximum payments up to 460,000 UAH.

Additional payments are also provided for participation in combat missions: 10,000 UAH for each day spent on positions and 40,000 UAH for an "assault day." These payments will apply both to mobilized personnel and contract servicemen.

Furthermore, the Ministry of Defense responded on how servicemen who have served since 2014 and 2022 will be discharged.
