In Ukraine, there are demands to ban Turkish series: whether they will disappear from the air will be decided by citizens
In Ukraine, it is proposed to limit the broadcast of Turkish series and strengthen support for national film production.
In an appeal to the Cabinet of Ministers, the initiator of the petition proposes to review the approaches to forming the television broadcast in Ukraine and reduce the share of foreign series content, in particular Turkish production. The initiative is justified by the need to support the Ukrainian film industry, develop national cultural products, and strengthen informational resilience in wartime.
The idea of limiting the broadcast of Turkish series in Ukraine
A petition No. 41/010118-26ep was submitted to the government with a request to consider the issue of limiting the broadcast of Turkish TV series on Ukrainian TV channels and media platforms.
The document states that a significant part of the television broadcast is currently filled with foreign series content, primarily Turkish production. According to the author, this reduces demand for Ukrainian series, films, and TV projects, which negatively affects the development of the national film industry and cultural space.
Arguments: development of Ukrainian media products
The petition emphasizes that under martial law and the need to strengthen national identity, the state must create favorable conditions for the development of its own media production.
The author also highlights the importance of supporting Ukrainian directors, screenwriters, actors, and producers, and proposes directing income from advertising and content broadcasting to the development of national cultural products.
Proposed measures
The petition initiator proposes:
- Establish quotas for the broadcast of Ukrainian series content on television.
- Provide additional state support for the production of Ukrainian series and films.
- Limit the share of foreign series content in television broadcasting.
- Promote the popularization of Ukrainian cultural and historical projects.
There are 92 days left until the end of the signature collection. To consider the initiative, 25,000 signatures must be collected.
