Andriy Sybiha met with Mark Rubio: discussed ways to advance the peace process
Ukraine's Minister of Foreign Affairs Andriy Sybiha reported that he held a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Mark Rubio.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views ahead of contacts between the countries' leaders.
“I congratulated Secretary Rubio on the agreement the U.S. concluded with Iran. We hope it will bring security to the region and stability to energy markets.
I confirmed President Zelenskyy's expectations that this agreement creates an opportunity to activate U.S.-led peace efforts aimed at ending Russia's war against Ukraine.
We discussed ways to advance the peace process. I shared Ukraine's vision regarding the steps necessary to finally bring Putin to the negotiating table,” he said.
Sybiha also informed Rubio about Russia's strikes on the Kyiv-Pechersk Lavra and other civilian, cultural, and historical sites.
“They testify that Moscow is waging war against faith, heritage, and Ukrainian identity.
I also informed Secretary Rubio about Ukraine's recent successes on the battlefield and in the area of long-term sanctions pressure on Russia.
We see a growing momentum toward peace through strength and count on decisive U.S. leadership and engagement,” the Foreign Minister added.
Earlier, we wrote that Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Donald Trump met on the sidelines of the G7 summit.
