Military personnel are offered to simplify obtaining and renewing driver's licenses: online exams and a "green corridor" at the Ministry of Internal Affairs
In Ukraine, there is a call to simplify the procedure for obtaining, renewing, and opening new categories of driver's licenses for military personnel during martial law. A relevant petition has been registered on the government portal.
The author of the appeal emphasizes that thousands of servicemen daily drive vehicles at the front and in the rear, providing logistics, evacuating the wounded, and performing combat missions. At the same time, the current procedures for obtaining a driver's license, opening new categories, or restoring lost documents, in his opinion, create unnecessary bureaucratic difficulties for the military.
The petition notes that due to service on the front line and limited time, military personnel often cannot attend standard training courses and classes. Meanwhile, many of them already have practical experience driving vehicles and equipment in difficult conditions.
In this regard, the Cabinet of Ministers is proposed to:
- introduce a simplified or accelerated training course and exam process for active military personnel;
- allow remote learning and taking theoretical exams through online platforms or the "Diia" app for military personnel who are in combat zones or on rotation;
- simplify the opening of additional categories of driver's licenses, including categories C, C1, and CE, necessary for driving cargo vehicles and military equipment;
- create a "green corridor" in the Ministry of Internal Affairs service centers with a priority queue for military personnel on short-term leave.
The author of petition No. 41/009993-26ep believes that such changes will increase the mobility of Defense Forces units, save military personnel time, and reduce bureaucratic procedures during the war. Currently, signatures are being collected for further government consideration.
Recall that the "Judicial and Legal Newspaper" wrote that the Cabinet of Ministers updated the procedure for issuing driver's licenses and allowing citizens to operate vehicles.
The changes provide for the introduction of a new mechanism to determine the need for special equipment or adaptation of vehicles for drivers with relevant medical indications.
We also reported that in Ukraine, it is proposed to allow drivers of category "B" to operate motorcycles without category "A".
