A border service inspector who tried to bribe his commander to escape service will stand trial. This was reported by the State Bureau of Investigation.

In particular, the border guard handed a bribe to his superior to leave the military unit without obstacles and avoid further service. The indictment has been sent to court.

The investigation established that in May 2026, the serviceman gave his commander $5,000. For this money, he expected to leave the place of service without hindrance and for the leadership not to report his unauthorized departure from the military unit.

The suspect is charged with giving a bribe to an official holding a responsible position (Part 3, Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine) and desertion under martial law conditions (Part 4, Article 408 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

The sanctions of the articles provide for up to 15 years of imprisonment.

Currently, all the accused's property has been seized.

Procedural guidance is carried out by the Cherkasy Specialized Prosecutor's Office in the field of defense of the Central region.
