In Kharkiv, law enforcement officers uncovered a scheme involving a gynecologist from one of the city's military medical institutions, according to the investigation.

The National Police established that a contract servicewoman approached the doctor suspecting pregnancy. After the examination, the doctor did not confirm the pregnancy but offered to document it officially to facilitate the woman's discharge from military service.

The suspect planned to record a fictitious pregnancy in the medical documents, which would allow obtaining a conclusion from the military medical commission declaring unfitness for service and terminating the contract. To do this, the servicewoman was to undergo a series of formal examinations to create a medical history of pregnancy. The doctor stated that she would organize the preparation of the military medical commission's conclusions since she was a member of it.

The cost of the "service" was initially $3,000 but was later reduced to $2,500.

To implement the scheme, the woman was sent for an ultrasound examination to a private medical facility, where a protocol was issued indicating a non-existent pregnancy of 6–7 weeks. Another doctor also unjustifiably registered the servicewoman for special monitoring at another medical institution.

The doctor was detained immediately after receiving the money. She was notified of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — abuse of influence.

The article's sanction provides for a penalty of up to eight years imprisonment.
