In Kyiv, 'night' tobacco kiosk robbers were exposed – two men stole goods worth 300 thousand hryvnias
In Kyiv, law enforcement officers detained two men who, according to the investigation, robbed a kiosk with tobacco products in the Desnianskyi district of the capital. This was reported by the Desnianskyi Police Department.
The suspects arrived at the trading kiosk before the curfew by car. It was established that they had been observing the object in advance and saw how goods for sale were delivered there.
After the time when there were no people on the streets, one of the men disconnected the kiosk from the power supply, and his accomplice broke the display glass and got inside. They took tobacco products, lighters, and coffee products from the premises.
After that, the criminals transferred the stolen items to the car, planning to leave the scene in the morning. However, they were detained by investigators under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
According to the police, the detainees turned out to be two residents of the Kyiv region aged 44 and 56. Both had previously been convicted of apartment burglaries and illegal seizure of vehicles.
During the search, the stolen goods and tools for committing the crime were seized from them. The total value of the seized items is about 300 thousand hryvnias.
The investigators of the Desnianskyi Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Desnianskyi District Prosecutor's Office, informed the men of suspicion under Part 4 of Article 185 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — theft committed by a group of persons by prior conspiracy under martial law conditions.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment of up to eight years of imprisonment.
Currently, their possible involvement in other similar crimes in Kyiv and the Kyiv region is being checked.
