Fine up to 13,600 UAH – Ukrainians reminded of administrative responsibility for selling alcohol and cigarettes to minors
Juvenile prevention inspectors of the police department in the metro conduct preventive raids in retail establishments in Kyiv to prevent the sale of alcohol, tobacco products, and electronic cigarettes to persons under 18 years of age.
As reported by the Kyiv police, during inspections law enforcement officers communicate with sellers and store owners, explain the requirements of the legislation, and emphasize the necessity of strict compliance with age restrictions when selling tobacco and alcohol products. Special attention is paid to the mandatory verification of documents from buyers if their age is in doubt.
The police remind that selling alcohol and tobacco to minors is an administrative offense. According to part 2 of article 156 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Offenses, such actions are punishable by a fine ranging from 6,800 to 13,600 hryvnias.
An important part of the preventive work is also informing citizens directly in the retail establishments. For this purpose, thematic stickers and reminders are placed in stores, which remind about the prohibition of selling dangerous goods to persons under 18 and about the responsibility for violations.
Law enforcement officers urge entrepreneurs to comply with the requirements of the legislation, emphasizing that restricting children's access to alcohol and tobacco products is an important factor in preserving their health and safe development. Citizens are also asked to report to the police known cases of selling such goods to minors for prompt response.
