During martial law in Ukraine, certain restrictions on cash operations introduced by the National Bank to maintain the stability of the financial system continue to apply. Banks set limits on cash withdrawals through cash desks and ATMs, as well as apply special rules for currency operations and cash withdrawals abroad. At the same time, some financial institutions may impose additional restrictions depending on the security situation, cash availability, or financial monitoring requirements.

One of the largest banks in the country is the state-owned PrivatBank. For its clients, defined limits apply to cash withdrawals through branch cash desks, ATMs, retail chains, and outside Ukraine. The bank has also established separate rules for operations with foreign currency accounts and the use of the "Withdraw without a card" service.

What limits apply to cash withdrawals at PrivatBank cash desks

Hryvnia withdrawals at branches

According to the requirements of the National Bank of Ukraine, cash withdrawals from a client's account in hryvnias are limited to up to 100 thousand hryvnias per day.

If a large amount of cash is needed, clients are recommended to pre-order cash via Privat24 in the "Services" section → "Cash order" or by calling 3700. This allows the bank to ensure the availability of the required amount at the branch.

For holders of cards from other banks, a separate limit applies: no more than 20 thousand hryvnias per transaction and no more than 20 thousand hryvnias per day.

Foreign currency withdrawals

Clients can receive funds from their foreign currency accounts within the equivalent of up to 100 thousand hryvnias per day.

At the same time, in branches located in territories under threat of occupation, foreign currency is issued within the account balance and only if the necessary cash is available at the cash desk. The decision to issue funds in such cases is made by the branch manager, taking into account the current situation.

Limits on cash withdrawals via ATMs

For PrivatBank cards

PrivatBank cardholders can withdraw:

  • up to 40 thousand hryvnias within three hours;
  • up to 100 thousand hryvnias per day.

For cards of other banks

For clients of other banks, the following limits are set:

  • up to 20 thousand hryvnias per transaction;
  • up to 20 thousand hryvnias within three hours.

Payment systems may also impose additional individual restrictions.

What limits apply for the "Withdraw without a card" service

Clients can receive cash at an ATM without using a physical card through the "Withdraw without a card" service.

Where else can you get cash without an ATM

When paying for purchases in stores, pharmacies, or gas stations, clients can additionally receive cash at the checkout.

The maximum amount issued is up to 6 thousand hryvnias.

The service is available, in particular:
