National Police Official Failed to Confirm Lawful Origin of Funds for Apartment — Supreme Court Puts an End to the Case
The Civil Cassation Court of the Supreme Court confirmed the legality of the decisions of the High Anti-Corruption Court regarding the recognition of an asset as unjustified, which belongs to the head of a department of the National Police of Ukraine's Department for Combating Drug Crime, and the seizure of its value in favor of the state. This was reported by the National Agency on Corruption Prevention (NACP).
The case concerns half of an apartment in Kyiv, which the official and his wife acquired in 2021. The value of this asset exceeds 1.8 million UAH. During a lifestyle monitoring, the National Agency on Corruption Prevention established that the couple did not have sufficient lawful income to purchase this property.
Based on materials from the NACP and evidence independently collected by the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, a lawsuit was filed with the High Anti-Corruption Court. On March 6, 2025, the HACC partially satisfied this claim, recognized the asset as unjustified, and ordered its value to be seized in favor of the state. On February 13, 2026, the HACC Appeals Chamber upheld this decision.
The Supreme Court's decision is final and not subject to appeal.
