In Odesa district, a man threw a kitten from the sixth floor of a multi-story building because the animal allegedly caused damage at home and annoyed him. As a result of the fall, the kitten died on the spot. This was reported by the police.
Law enforcement officers found a video on social networks showing the dead animal near a residential building and went to the scene. During the investigation, it was established that the kitten was thrown by a 47-year-old local resident who was intoxicated. The man explained that the animal annoyed him.
Following the incident, investigators opened a criminal case under Part 1 of Article 299 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — cruel treatment of animals.
The article's sanction provides for punishment in the form of restriction of liberty for up to three years or imprisonment for a term of two to three years.
